Gen X has seen some shit. We grew up without the internet, survived being unreachable for hours at a time, and somehow made it through childhood without anyone tracking our location. Now we have group chats, Zoom meetings, 400 passwords, and people telling us to “share our feelings.” We have thoughts.
- We used to memorize phone numbers. Now we have 400 contacts and remember none of them.
- "How are you" is a greeting, not a question. Answer accordingly.
- Nobody needs to know that much about your morning routine.
- Latchkey kid energy never fully goes away, it just becomes "I like being alone, thanks."
- Loyalty cards are a scam and we've known it since 1994.
- A phone call without warning is an act of aggression.
- We rode in the back of pickup trucks with no helmets and survived. We are fine. Stop asking.
- Complaining is a love language, and also a personality.
- If the group chat has more than six people, we're muted, and honestly relieved about it.
- Feelings are private property. Trespassers will be shot with a look.
- We don't need a meeting. We need you to send the goddamn email.
- Sarcasm isn't a coping mechanism, it's a hobby.
- The mall used to be a whole personality and nobody's replaced it, and that's a real fucking loss.
- We say "I'm fine" and mean it about 40% of the time, which is honestly a lot.
- A mixtape took actual effort and love. A Spotify playlist takes ninety seconds and doesn't count.
- We don't need a trophy. We need you to stop touching our shit.
- Small talk is a tax we pay unwillingly.
- If we liked you, you'd know. If we didn't say anything, also know.
- Every group project since 1997 has had exactly one person doing the fucking work.
- MTV used to mean something. Now it means nothing, and neither does anything else, apparently.
- We peaked at being unbothered. It's been downhill in every other category since.
- Nobody warned us that "adulting" would just be an eternal group chat about insurance.
- We don't do drama. We do a very long, detailed sigh instead.
- We drank from garden hoses and turned out fine, or at least fine enough to complain about everyone else's kids now.
- Deep down we're still just waiting for someone to turn the porch light off so we know it's time to come the fuck home.
- If you're more of a "say less, mean it more" communicator, BiteDraft has a Gen X persona built for exactly that energy. Dry, minimal fuss, gets straight to it.
